Day 99 - One More Day!

Hello Mr. Steele’s Class. Today is February 10, 2011, and we have one more day before Day 100! This morning, we came up to the classroom, unpacked, and got straight to work. We did the daily math until about 9:20, and then started going over it. About 10 minutes later, we started working on 4.1, finding sales tax for various items. Then at 10:00, we went down to computer lab to work on our CBA’s, but we cut it short because we got the netbooks! We went over how lucky we were to get these, and how we have to treat these with respect. We then booted our netbooks and went over how to use them. We didn’t have them out long, because it was almost break. We all learned how to put them away, and we went to break. Shortly after 11:10, we met up with our UWB buddies. At 11:45 we got back together and looked at plans for a tunnel underground in Downtown Seattle. A student’s dad is working on it. The tunnel is going to be a mile and a half long! Some of the drill holes to sample the rock layers are 240- 300 feet approx. deep! After we took a short work period, it was time for lunch.

When we came back, we finished up the last two chapters that talk about the Han dynasty, medicine and science. The Han did moxibustion, which is a cone of powdered leaves or sticks that is set against skin and set on fire. This was used to treat long-term diseases such as arthritis. After that we had another period to work on our Emperor of Qin posters, color poems, and “The Girl Who Married the Moon”. At 2:48, we did some “Chaos in The Canyon”! We did the equivalent of one day. At about 3:10, we all did book clubs. We then cleaned up and left. Here’s the homework for tonight:
