Good morning! I hope you all had a splendid mid-winter break. Today is Tuesday, February 22, 2011. This morning, we came in and went through our morning routine. At 9:05, we went to P.E. In P.E., we did some more tennis. We got in four lines, and hit a spinner or a foam ball back and forth, all the while counting how many times we could hit it without it becoming a dead ball. When we got back, we got our netbooks out and worked on “Mystery Class”. Once we were done, we got to work on our SS CBA for about 15-20 minutes. Our teacher then handed us some strips of paper that had our username and password to get onto Type2Learn 4. Then we had break at our usual time. After break, we got to create our own avatar on a communicator site (You can access it from mrsteelesclass.org). Soon it was 12:10, and we put our netbooks away and went out to recess.
When we came back, we started 5.1 in math. Today we were finding percent discounts. You put the discount over the original price, simplify, and then convert into a percent (0.75$ off any two spiral notebooks- Regular price: $3.00, With coupon: $2.25. You put the discount on the top of the fraction (75/?), and you put the original price on the bottom, so it turns out to be 75/300. You then simplify it and convert it to a percent. So 75/300 is 25/100 or 25 %.) Once we finished, we did a class science read from our “Earth History Resources” book on fossils. Turns out, the word fossil comes from the Latin verb “to dig.” We stopped about halfway through to do about 10 minutes worth of book clubs, and then we packed up and left.
