Hi, today is Friday, February 4, 2011. This morning, we came in and unpacked our belongings, and at 9:13, we headed down to library. We are doing another book report on our favorite author. A due date hasn’t been set yet, but you have to read a book by your favorite author (preferably a book you haven’t read before). After library, we headed back up to the classroom to do math. But we only had about 15-20 minutes to work on it, because the counselor from Finn Hill Junior High came to fill us in on our schedule, our electives, and the honor programs like Social Studies, Language Arts, and Math. It was very informative. She also handed out a sheet to fill out with our families for our electives, and important info like phone numbers, and names. If you want to try and apply for Honors Language Arts/ Social Studies, you have to get a parent signature. She also handed out a booklet that had all the information on the electives and required subjects in school. It also had some info on honors. Then she left, and we had break.
After break, we continued working on math lesson 3.2. If you convert a decimal to a fraction with the same denominator on the bottom of the fraction, you can cancel out the denominator, and use long division to get your answer, which I find is a lot easier than doing the “Fliparoo #2”. Then we took the five minutes of recess, and went on to play our Friday game in the gym.
After lunch, we worked on our CBA for Social Studies. We were finding more sources and working to find answers for the questions in the packet/guidelines. Then, at 1:50, we started Mystery Class! We talked about times, measuring the sun, and the prime meridian/ equator. After that, we did book clubs. The end of the day came, and we cleaned out our desks and went home. The only homework we have is:
Reading 30 minutes and Reading Record.
