Day 170 - CIV Murals

Good morning! Today is Wednesday, June 8, 2011. We entered the classroom and went through our morning routine. We were supposed to go to music, but we joined up with the other sixth grade class and did P.E. We played a game called “Coconut Island”. There was a giant unfolded mat laid down in the center of the gym, where the islanders stood. There were “Coconut Islands” that had “coconuts” in them. The islands were hula-hoops, and the coconuts were two balls. There were some foot balls, some gator-skin balls, etc. There were also sharks and coconut grabbers. The sharks wore yellow vests and could tag you. When you were out, you had to go to “Prisoner Island”, where you waited to get back in. The coconut grabbers grab the balls that are out in the ocean, or are on the gym floor. When an islander took a coconut to the large mat, they showed the gym teacher, and she wrote down the score. Then you would toss them out into the ocean, hence the need for “Coconut Grabbers”. It was a lot of fun, and we kept on adding and subtracting sharks! We went back to class and worked on our morning work until morning recess. When we came inside, we worked on CIV. Some people got together in a group to work on a mural for our civilization. The rest of the class worked on their PowerPoint and a description for their characteristic. We worked on it until second recess.

When we came back from lunch, we did a science experiment. There was a secret word on a wooden block on the back cabinets (up high where we couldn’t see), and we had to make a device that allowed us to see the word. Then we filled out a Student Sheet, and did PSV, did jobs, wrote down homework, and left. Here’s your homework:
